About Me
McCalla Hill received her BFA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2009. During her time in Atlanta, she has exhibited in 7 exhibitions, including SCAD-Atlanta’s juried open studio night, Young Blood Gallery, and Mint Gallery. While at SCAD-Atlanta she was awarded the Educator’s Scholarship for her previous work in public education and the Glenda Knight Keyes Scholarship for excellence in painting. Before coming to SCAD-Atlanta, McCalla exhibited in the 2003 Birmingham-Southern College Juried Show, Drawing on Alabama: a juried exhibit of Alabama artists (2006). She was also selected as runner up in the Birmingham Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters competition in Water-Based Media (2006).
Currently, McCalla teaches 5th and 6th grade at Hess Academy in Decatur, Ga. When not teaching or painting, McCalla is running around after her 3 kids, reading, and spending time with her husband, Liam.
